Family Compass
Your family theology/compass is The Truth you will pass to give your family the biblical directions for healthy, normal living against which attitudes, actions, and beliefs can be measured. Family theology/compass is important to know as they become the lenses through which all truth claims will be filtered. The Bible is clear in 1 Tim 4:6, “watch your life and doctrine closely”. These truths fall into three areas: Core Beliefs of Christianity, Core values of Christianity and the Christian World views (application of core beliefs and values), to help your family stand firm against Secular World views.
Core Christian Beliefs need to be understood and passed to the next generation. While many theological differences exist among Christians, most hold a set of beliefs in common.
Core Christian Values need to be understood and passed to the next generation. The core values of the Christian faith emphasize love, faith, forgiveness, grace, humility, compassion, justice and prayer. These values shape the attitudes and actions of believers and provide a foundation for their relationship with God and with others.
Christian World views of the cultural issues need to be understood and shared with children. Followers of Jesus must articulate a Christian worldview for the twenty-first century, with all of its accompanying challenges and changes, and to show how such Christian thinking is applicable across all areas of life.
